Forté Health Hosts Inaugural Gynaecology Symposium

4th February 2026

In November last year, Forté Health hosted the inaugural Gynaecology Symposium, led by Gynaecology & General Theatre Team Leader Katrina Jolly.

Designed to strengthen knowledge and capability across women’s health, the event brought together healthcare professionals from multiple organisations, including nurses, outpatient teams, and clinical specialists.

The idea for the symposium emerged after Katrina noticed a significant gap in accessible professional development for staff working in women’s health.

“I reached out to several Gynaecology Clinical Nurse Specialists to inquire about existing gynaecology-focused study days or conferences available in Christchurch. Through these conversations, I learned that there was a noticeable lack of educational opportunities in this area,” said Katrina.

The symposium delivered a rich programme of presentations covering menopause management - specifically how estrogel can be used as an alternative to hormone replacement therapy patches. mindful and pelvic physiotherapy, endometriosis diagnosis and treatment, and the role of anaesthetists in gynaecological surgery. Each session offered practical insights, evidence‑based strategies, and opportunities for meaningful discussion, elements that attendees responded to with enthusiasm.

Katrina said: “It was fantastic to be able to offer attendees a deeper understanding of perioperative care and patient safety considerations.”

Forté Health is grateful to be able support the initiative. The symposium was also supported by the generous sponsorship of Pharmaco and the contributions of respected medical specialists including Dr Janene Brown, Dr Olivia Smart, Dr Rachelle Williamson, Niamh Clerkin, Jo Hopkinson‑Haigh, and Elaine Baxter.

With such strong engagement and momentum, Forté Health looks forward to continuing its commitment to advancing gynaecological care and supporting the professionals who deliver it every day.
