Surgeries to proceed on Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Day

14th September 2022

A one-off public holiday has been announced by the New Zealand Government on Monday 26 September, the date of New Zealand’s State Memorial Service to mark the passing of Queen Elizabeth II.

While Forté Health recognises the significance of the day and the Queen’s extraordinary life of service, the impact of a Hospital closure on patients would be considerable. After reflecting on our person-centered values, the Forté team does not want patients who are scheduled for surgery to face cancellation – especially in a hospital environment where surgical lists are fully booked.

We have consulted with the medical specialists we work alongside and all have confirmed they will be operating as scheduled on Monday 26 September.

If you are scheduled for surgery at Forté Hospital on Monday 26 September and would like to speak to someone about your surgery, please contact your specialists’ rooms directly.
